Edwardian Era Wedding Bands

Edwardian wedding bands are exquisite in their design and stand for sophistication. Luxurious designs marked these wedding bands and extravagant materials were used to make them. King Edward VIII was a very sophisticated man himself. He was a trend setter in England. Therefore, the entire nation followed the trend of wearing sophisticated jewelry and clothes.

King Edward rules England from 1901 to 1910. During this time, the upper class of England was dressed at their best and adorned themselves in luxurious pieces of jewelry.

In the early part of 1900, Edwardian bands were very popular with the people, so much so that they worn them on each of their hand. The rings were designed exclusively for the wealthy and the extravagant. The bands were a sharp contrast to the jewelry of the previous eras. They were far more flamboyant than anything of the kind that had been designed previously.

But very few of them survive till date. The Edwardian bands were passed on from one generation to the other. The later generations manhandled them, wore them casually, while working or while undertaking physical activity. So, many of the Edwardian bands got eroded in the wear and tear.

Edwardian wedding bands for women had a feminine, delicate and are lightweight look. These feminine bands were decorated with diamonds. They were also adorned with decorations from nature. Flowers, leaves and vines clovers or shamrocks were often engraved on the bands. Heart engravings were also quite popular on these bands. These were mainly worn at the time of engagement.
